Fifty Poems / Fifty Images

Fifty Poems / Fifty Images

Presentation of a book by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Armando Milani

Poetry and design meet in this unique volume that is also a tribute to two of the leading characters in these artistic fields -- Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Armando Milani. Fifty poems from Mr. Ferlinghetti's body of work are on the left pages of this finely crafted hardcover edition, accompanied on the right pages by fifty images created by Mr. Milani---truly a great collaborative effort. Lawrence Ferlinghetti was born in New York in 1919. He is an American poet, painter, liberal activist, and the co-founder of City Lights Booksellers & Publishers. Author of poetry, translations, fiction, theatre, art criticism, and film narration, he is best known for A Coney Island of the Mind (1958), a collection of poems that has been translated into nine languages, with sales of over one million copies. Armando Milani, a graphic designer from Milan, specialises in branding programs, design of logos, corporate identity programs, book design and posters. This event is part of SF Design Week.
