Moderated by: David Moretti (Deputy Creative Director, WIRED)

For the initiative High Up.Graphic Design Around Town, curated by Marina Pugliese and Geoff Kaplan, five teams of designers were matched between Milan and San Francisco and each team produced at least one collaborative image bill-posted in strategic urban locations in both cities during the respective Design Weeks (April in Milan and June in San Francisco).

An exhibition with smaller scale version of the posters will be on view in the atrium gallery of the CCA Hooper Graduate Center. The opening will be celebrated with a round-table discussion with the SF designers, Silvia Sfligiotti from Italy, and the rest of Milanese designers connecting via Skype.

The talk will focus on the two cities, their respective graphic design traditions, and the impact that graphic design has, or might have, in public settings such as billboards normally used for advertisements.

The project is part of the MappingTheCity program and is a collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute, California College of the Arts, San Francisco Design Week, and the Municipality of Milan.
