Olivier Tomat | Research-based innovation in Europe & the US

Science & Technology Series

There has been for years now an ongoing mythology built around some alleged features that would make the US research-based innovation ecosystem essentially superior to what is supposed to be a poorly run, in comparison, European one.

This talk aims at diving a little deeper into the comparison, unveiling some less acknowledged drivers of what happens here and there and offering some insights on how both systems might move forward in the near future.

Olivier Tomat has been running various business incubation and innovation programs for 15 years in France and the UK, at a time when startups and entrepreneurs were not as trendy in Europe as they are now. He is currently working as an innovation advisor for the French Government at UC Berkeley, trying to break the code of what has made the Bay Area innovation ecosystem so successful for years.
