Scandals & Scoundrels: The Hidden Story of Casanova, Da Ponte, and Don Giovanni

Join us for an enchanting evening with Kayleen Asbo and Theresa Nelson, and be immersed in the luxury, opulence, and decadence of XVIII century life from Venice to Paris and Vienna, as exemplified by Casanova, Da Ponte (Mozart’s librettist) and the legend of Don Giovanni.

Kayleen Asbo is an acclaimed cultural historian musician, writer, and teacher, who passionately weaves together myth, psychology, history, and the arts.

Kayleen wrote her Ph.D dissertation on Passion and Paradox: The Myths of Mary Magdalene in Music, Art, and Culture. She also holds three master's degrees: one each in music (piano performance), mythology, and psychology. She is a faculty member of the Pacifica Graduate Institute and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She also teaches for the Osher Life Long Learning Institutes at UC Berkeley, Sonoma State University, and Dominican University. Her classes include a wide array of topics ranging from Depth Psychology to Dante to the History of Classical Music.

Theresa Nelson is co-founder and first Executive Director of Humanities West, founder and member of the Board of several organizations focused on children development and the environment. She is also a talented singer, dancer and actress.
