Italy, Europe, and the Challenges of Globalization

The Institute of European Studies and the Department of Italian Studies at UC Berkeley present a conversation with Italian journalist/writer Enrico Deaglio and Enrico Rossi, President of the Region of Tuscany. The event is moderated by Elisabetta Ghisini (Hult International Business School / President of COMITES, San Francisco Chapter), with an introduction by Lorenzo Ortona, Consul General of Italy in San Francisco.

Italy has recently been in the spotlight as the European Union undergoes a delicate political moment. A founding member of the EU and the single euro currency, the country is seeking ways to make the Eurozone cohesion more effective in the wake of economic pressures and growing migration challenges. It also continues to play a key role in international relations in order to advance the EU's objectives to promote stability, safeguard diversity, and stimulate economic growth. This conversation will address the challenges Italy is currently facing, as well as opportunities that exist for political, economic and cultural cooperation across Europe and globally.
