Making Stuff with Gaia Stella

The Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco is offering a series of activities for children. In addition to fairy tales readings from Gianni Rodari's Fairy Tales Over the Phone, the little ones can busy at work in the kitchen under the guidance of chef Viola Buitoni and prepare a fabulous dish during the closing day of the cooking class sereis Lunchtime with Viola Buitoni.

Those of you who attended the opening of the exhibition Illustrators for Gianni Rodari at the Italian Cultural Institute will remember the presentation of the talented graphic artist Gaia Stella. Gaia now offers activities for children. In her words: "I hope you're all well and I hope you’re able to find some sort of balance in these uncertain times. Making stuff is one of the ways I know how to find serenity. So, I created a simple activity for anyone who is looking for ideas to spend time playing with children. You'll just need a printer, scissors and glue. Download the pdfs below, print them, cut out the shapes and create your animals! If you don't have a printer, you can draw the shapes on the paper...

Gaia Stella is an award-winning illustrator and author. She has authored and illustrated picture books and novelty books for Italian and international publishers, including hélium, La Joie de Lire, De La Martinière Jeunesse, Mondadori, Einaudi. She's done editorial illustrations for clients such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Boston Globe. Gaia lives and works in Milan, Italy.
