4th Italian Design Day in the World

4th Italian Design Day in the World

The 4th edition of Italian Design Day in the World (IDD) will take place in 100 cities all over the world and focus on Drawing the Future. Development, Innovation, Sustainability, Beauty. As in the past editions, the theme will be expressed with particular attention to sustainability by 100 “Italian design ambassadors” - architects, designers, academics, business people, critics, communicators - who will bring us the best of Italian design.

Italian Design Day in the World is a project launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it is the result of a frutiful team work of MiBACT, MISE, ICE Agenzia, Confindustria, Associazione per il Disegno Insdustriale (ADI), Fondazione ADI-Compasso d'Oro, Federlegno Arredo, Salone del Mobile Milano and Triennale Milano.

The beautiful country as a virtuous example | Fabio Novembre

"I strongly believe in the educational value of aesthetics, and I do think the amount of historical beauty in our country has all the potential to become an ethical reference for the planet. Let’s try to imagine a new meaning for italian design, referred to our ability to make people fall in love, as a true antidote to individualism. To love and to delight, being lovers and amateurs, closing the productive circle with free, useful and perfect creations. Making projects like flowers, fleeting moments of aesthetic perfection in absolute balance between the potential of the seed and the completeness of the tree. Seductive songs that trigger (re)productive mechanisms for the pleasure of all species involved. Just like a butterfly, our life may last the span of a morning."

Fabio Novembre is the design ambassador for Italian Design Day 2020. Born in Lecce in 1966, Novembre graduated in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano in 1992. He moved to New York where he studied cinema at NYU and opened his studio in Milan in 1994. Over the years he became immediately an international reference for architecture and design, thanks to the strong expressiveness and iconicity of the sign. From 2019 he is Artistic Director of Driade, Scientific Director of Domus Academy and member of the scientific committee of Triennale di Milano.
