Literature of Ticino: A Prelude to the 22nd Annual Week of Italian Language

This event is part of "Settimane Ticinesi," a month-long series of events with focus on the Italian speaking region of Switzerland hosted by the Consulate General of Switzerland in San Francisco.

With San Francisco’s 22nd Annual Week of Italian Language beginning October 17, what better way to celebrate than an exclusive appearance by two distinguished authors from Ticino, a small community in the Swiss Alps which borders Italy, and where residents speak primarily in Italian. Join us for wine and appetizers, and this special bilingual presentation by Ticino authors Fabiano Alborghetti and Fabio Andina. This event is part of Litquake San Francisco Literary Festival.

ABOUT

Fabiano Alborghetti is an award-winning poet, editor, and cultural promoter, and author of five books of poetry which have been translated into over ten languages. He has collaborated with many European publishing houses, promoting translation projects of Swiss and Italian poets, and translating from other idioms into Italian. A former artistic director and president of the Literature House based in Lugano, he is currently a member of the scientific board of the Chiassoletteraria Festival, and Editor in-Chief of the Poetry Series for the Swiss-based publishing house Gabriele Capelli Editore. His newest work is the poetry collection Corpuscoli di Krause (GCE Gabriele Capelli Editore, 2022). He officially represents Ticino, Switzerland and the Italian language in festivals across the world. He writes in Italian and lives in Ticino, Switzerland.

Fabio Andina is a Swiss writer, and award-winning author of the novel La pozza del Felice (2018, Rubbettino), which has been translated into French, German, and Spanish. His poetry and short fiction collections include Ballate dal buio (2005, Edizioni Ulivo), Sei tu, Ticino? (2020, Rubbettino), of which five stories have been adapted into radio dramas for RSI (Radiotelevisione della Svizzera italiana), and Tessiner Horizonte, Momenti ticinesi (2021, Rotpunktverlag), a collection of bilingual Italian/German short stories and sketches of Ticino landscapes. His most recent work is Uscirne fuori, a revised edition of his debut novel, which will be published in German in Spring 2023. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Cinema, and lives in Leontica, in the Ticino Alps.
