Caro Pier Paolo, letters, essays and poems.
Presented and commented on a live webinar from Italy by the author, Dacia Maraini.
Unique and unrepeatable in his artistic, human and prophetic journey, Pier Paolo Pasolini, born on March 5, 1922 in Casarsa della Delizia, in the Friulian countryside, is celebrated 100 years after his birth, in 2022, with many special events that bring us back to the poet, the writer, the director, and the brilliant intellectual.
DACIA MARAINI, in her latest personal book, Caro Pier Paolo, combines past, present and future in a memoir in the form of letters. Through these letters Maraini, a Premio Strega and Premio Campiello winner, and also one of Pasolini’s closest friends, weaves an intimate and sincere dialogue made up of artistic and cinematographic experiences, ideas and travels. Fifty years after that very deep wound that was the death of Pasolini in 1975, these letters represent a timeless, delicate correspondence, where everything is present and alive, and dreams play a central role.
This event is organized by the Leonardo da Vinci Society of San Francisco and the Museo Italo Americano, with the patronage of the Italian Cultural Institute of San Francisco.
