Book presentation by Andrea Angeli
From the sheltered rooms of the Italian foreign ministry to the prisons of Kerala or the NATO base in Heart (Afghanistan) — old and new stories of peacekeeping and international diplomacy are told by Andrea Angeli in his new book “Kabul – Rome. Round trip (via Delhi).”
The book recounts the career of an international civil servant: a glimpse at controversial events that have marked Italy’s recent past and which have not yet been clarified. At its center the obscure story of the two Italian marines in India, to which the book gives some answers.
With a degree in Law and Political Science, Andrea Angeli works as a peacekeeper for the United Nations, where he has been since 1987. His first assignment was in Santiago de Chile, in the delicate transition from the Pinochet regime to democracy. In time, his work has taken him to Namibia, Iraq, New York, Cambodia, and the Balkans where he lived the siege of Sarajevo from the Holiday Inn, the press and international officials bunker, set along the city street renamed Sniper Alley.
