ABOUT
Extraordinary virtuosity, superb technique.
Alberto Pizzo’s highly original and unique ‘crossover’ style was cultivated from a very young age through the study of classical piano technique and Neapolitan music. His background has given a remarkable boost to his passion and ability to span styles: classical, jazz, fusion and pop.
His distinctiveness lies in the extreme simplicity and naturalness of moving from baroque to soundtrack, from tango to Neapolitan song, just as in his performances Debussy could be found in Torna a Surriento and Scarlatti emerges in the jazz piece.
Alberto Music World.
Melody is the essence of Alberto Pizzo’s compositions while virtuosity predominates in his re-elaborations. Listening to his music with our eyes closed naturally leads us to imagine scenes or images in motion and is therefore by its very nature perfect as a commentary for film works or major documentaries.
Pizzo collaborated with Italian and international artists (Bacalov, Bollani, Rea, Marcotulli, Mino Cinelu, Toquinho, Arbore, Knopfler, London Symphony Orchestra), and played at the Blue Note Jazz Festival in New York, at the Ravello Festival, at the Casa del Jazz in Rome, at the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, on the Main stage of Piano City Milano, at the Dalsong Festival in Daegu in South Korea, at the Outside Music Festival in Brandenburg. He has composed for Bixio CEMSA editions, recorded three albums with Cinevox Records, and published with Sony Classical.
Pizzo is one of Yamaha Artists Europe and was the first foreign Artist to sign a contract with Yamaha Entertainment Japan in 2018 and join their roster. Most recently, in early September 2023, he won the First Overall Prize of the ‘Ibra Grande Award Japan Competition.’
