Amir Issaa will be on tour in the United States with his educational and musical project This is What I Live For / Vivo per questo – Potere alle Parole which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary
It was 2015, in fact, when Amir began to cross the States (and not only) with his proposal – an intersection between teaching and entertainment – unique in the Italian panorama. Amir is preparing to celebrate this milestone by teaching for the first time in the Bay Area (between San Francisco and Berkeley) and in the Midwest (between Missouri and Chicago), to finally close his tour in New York City with a workshop at New York University.
The American tour will be accompanied by interesting news, among them, the new book Rap in classe – Strumenti e percorsi per la scuola secondaria (Erickson Libri) released in January 2025.
Amir, however, is first and foremost a historic representative of the Italian Hip Hop scene, so on February 21, a few hours before leaving for the United States, his new album La prossima volta il fuoco will be released: a clear tribute to the black intellectual James Baldwin – both in the title and in the content of the tracks, focused on the theme of racialization in contemporary Italian society.
Amir Issaa on his 2025 American tour:
“With the new dates in the United States I will celebrate the tenth anniversary of my first educational tour, from 2015 to today there are countless universities and schools that I have visited, collaborating with fantastic teachers who have opened the doors of their classrooms to let me meet students fascinated by the evolution of the Italian identity linked to the second generations. These ten years of tours in the United States have given me the opportunity to develop a new teaching method, in which my history, hip hop culture, my books have become central tools in my work”.
