25th Annual Week of Italian Language in the World (SLIM)
Italofonia: Language Beyond Borders
The Week of Italian Language in the World (SLIM) is held annually in the third week of October. Organized by the diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in collaboration with the MAECI’s main language promotion partners (MiC, MIM, MUR, CePeLL, the Government of the Swiss Confederation, Accademia della Crusca, CGIE, Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona, Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani, RAI Italia, and the Dante Alighieri Society), the Week has become the most important global event dedicated to the Italian language. Since its inception in 2001, this event has annually received the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic.
Each Week is dedicated to a different theme, which serves as a common thread for a rich program of conferences, exhibitions, and meetings.
In the year of the 1st International Conference of Italofonia and in continuity with the fifth edition of the States General of the Italian Language in the World, the 25th edition (13-19 October 2025) will have as its theme Italofonia: language beyond borders, with the aim of celebrating the linguistic, cultural and social space of Italian, imagining a new community of people in the world linked by a passion for our language and, through it, by closeness to our country.
