SINOPSIS
Irene has finally built a sense of balance in Rome, with a steady job and an orderly routine that gives her the illusion of having left the past behind. This balance is shattered when she is forced to return to Rimini, the city where she grew up, to take care of her brother Omar, a forty-year-old man on the autism spectrum who still lives with their parents.
In Rimini, Irene discovers that Omar is far from the fragile and dependent person everyone imagines him to be. On the contrary, he has a very clear vision of his future: he categorically refuses the idea of living with his sister once their parents are gone and firmly claims his right to an independent life. Determined and surprisingly lucid, Omar draws Irene into an unexpected challenge, asking her to help him finally become “grown-up” for real.
This leads to the creation of an unusual and intense “crash course in adulthood,” made up of practical tests, small failures, and major discoveries, designed to teach Omar how to stand on his own in the world. But the journey is not only about everyday independence: at its heart lies Omar’s dream of becoming a singer and taking part in a talent show, convinced that this is the path to being truly seen and recognized.
