Where the Border Stands

From war ambulances to intercultural exchanges

Stefania Chinzari will present her book about the American Field Service (AFS), a volunteer organisation of ambulance personnel.
Where the border stands. From war ambulances to intercultural exchanges, by Stefania Chinzari and Roberto Ruffino, tells the story of courage and learning of all men and women who have made the AFS. A century ago, volunteer AFS ambulance drivers started work in France during the First World War. They went on to save thousands of lives in the Second World War, and transformed the organisation into a world movement for education, peace and intercultural dialogue.
