Carlo and Paolo Montarsolo were not only brothers, but also artists, who made art of their lives. During theris existence they supported and encouraged each other’s art, and traveled around the world often performing in the same places. This deep tie gave Federico, Carlo’s son, the idea of creating and event to commemorate both, as an example of artistic life, of a tribute to art.
Carlo Montarsolo (1922-2005) was one of the most prolific painters of the naturalistic-abstrac art in post-war Italy. He was also an enthusiastic speaker of artoften invited by Italian Cultural Institutes around the world.
Paolo Montarsolo (1925-2006) was one of the most important Italian opera singers, particularly as a Basso Buffo. He sang with some of the most famous conductors and several times performed at the San Francisco Opera. For many years he also taught at the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco.
