Documentary LA ROSADA E L’ARDILUT: Nel Friuli del giovane Pasolini (The Places of Pasolini)
In cooperation with Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia and Association El Fogolar Furlan SF
Under the auspices of Comune di Udine, Fondazione Friuli and of the Consiglio Regionale del Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
Co-presented by San Francisco Italian Athletic Club and Lido Cantarutti’s Italian Film Festival of Marin.
The documentary explores the places where Pier Paolo Pasolini lived and worked in his youth—from Casarsa to San Giovanni, from Versuta to the banks of the Tagliamento River, from Lugugnana to Valvasone—passing through the villages and countryside that the poet loved so deeply and depicted in his poetic and visual work. In addition to an itinerary that takes us through the Friulian countryside from the Magredi Valley to the Tagliamento, the documentary taverses the “landscapes of the soul” that helped Pasolini discover his own Friulianism and his sense of belonging to a land that he called matria (motherland), because it was the birthplace of his mother, Susanna. We get a sense of the multifaceted figure of the young Pasolini—poet and teacher of life and culture who, in the remote villages of the Friulian countryside during the War years, was able to awaken in his students and colleagues a deep sense of belonging to their land and their Friulian identity. The documentary was produced by Terra s.r.l. and directed by Roberta Cortella.
The screening will be followed by a reception featuring delicacies form Friuli.
