(Pasolini and His Double)
with the author Marco Belpoliti
September 1st, 2022 | 11 AM
On the centenary of his birth, the book Pasolini e il suo doppio (Pasolini and His Double), written by the philosopher Marco Belpoliti, offers a new portrait of Pier Paolo Pasolini. A new collection of Belpoliti’s most important writing on Pasolini, the book follows his artistic and personal journey beginning in the 1960s, when he moved away from literature to devote himself to cinema.
Belpoliti argues that Pasolini’s fierce criticism of contemporary society is deeply rooted in his homosexuality. The book also includes four photographic essays depicting Pasolini by four leading Italian photographers: Paolo Di Paolo, Dino Pedriali, Mario Dondero, and Ugo Mulas.
This program is presented in collaboration with the Leonardo da Vinci Society of San Francisco.
