Artemis Danza Company dedicates Monica Casadei‘s new artistic project to the representation, investigation and contemporary interpretation of four fascinating heroines immortalized by the composer from Lucca: Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Mimì and Turandot.

Puccini sends a clear message right from the titles chosen for his most famous works: Tosca, Butterfly, Turandot, La Bohème. A kaleidoscope of women with different personalities, a universe full of facets, sensitivity.
In the four sketches that make up Puccini’s Opera. Women’s Voices, recognizable without any didactic need, we find Casadei’s personal reading on the theme of the feminine placed at the center of a process of choreographic, visual and musical reinterpretation. Tragic love, thwarted and opposed love, love cruel that destroys, the lust for possession that leads to destruction, live in the faces, in the bodies, in the gestures of the dancers and never cease to make us reflect on the relevance of stories that have moved audiences all over the world.
The creation is permeated with a poignant atmosphere, full of tension and poetic suggestion. The score of Puccini’s orchestral music contrasts with the electronic tracks of the composers Luca Vianini and Fabio Fiandrini, designing an enveloping and at times apocalyptic sound space.
A choral dance, full of impulses and passions, instinctive and at times wild, which makes a whirlwind use of space, appears, even symbolically, as visually full: solos protected by frames of ensembles in a dynamic accelerated by propulsive forces they bring the drama and passions of the protagonists to life in the body and in the bowels.
