These are the words of the famous violinist and conductor Vladimir Spivakov, President of the International House of Music, who, in 2009, invited the Duo Terlizzi to perform in Moscow and awarded them the Diploma of Honor of the Spivakov International Charity Foundation.
For their recital Dream and Passion, the Terlizzi Duo, composed of brothers Marco (violin) and Raffaele Terlizzi (piano), has selected music by Antonin Dvořák, Ferruccio Busoni, Fritz Kreisler, Renzo Rossellini, Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone and Astor Piazzolla.
The Duo has performed for over thirty years in Japan, China, the USA, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Chile, and Argentina.
The Duo has won prizes in many chamber music competitions, such as the Silver Medal at the National Competition in Naples; Gold Medal in Morbegno; Third Prize and the “Haydn Special Award” at the “Ibla Grand Prize” International Competition; Second Prize at the International Competition in Acqui Terme; Second Prize at “Riviera del Conero” International Competition in Ancona; First Prize at the European Competition in Moncalieri; First Prize at the “Villa Medicea” International Competition in Prato.
The Duo was awarded the International Prize “Foyer des Artistes – 2000” (recognized by the Italian Council of Ministers) at “La Sapienza” University in Rome; Gold Medal for Merit of Culture, Art, and Science; the “Santa Cecilia” Prize; the XXXII International Prize “Sicilia – Il Paladino” and numerous others. They have been members of juries in several international music competitions, and have given masterclasses in China, Japan, the USA, Hong Kong, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, the Netherlands, and Italy. Both Marco and Raffaele are professors at the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory of Music in Catania, Sicily.
