On the occasion of the 3rd edition of the Italian Sports Day in the World, an evening dedicated to the dialogue between sport, health, scientific research, and technological innovation, bringing together experts from Italy and the United States. Promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the initiative aims to highlight sport as a tool for international dialogue and as a meeting point for research, medicine, technology, and athletic performance.
The evening will open with institutional remarks by Massimo Carnelos, Consul General of Italy in San Francisco, followed by an introduction by Romeo Beccherelli, Ph.D., Scientific Attaché at the Consulate General of Italy in San Francisco.
SPEAKERS
- Dr. Antonio Pelliccia – Senior Consultant and Chief of Cardiology of the Institute of Sports Medicine and Science of the Italian National Olympic Committee, Rome, Italy
- Prof. Elena Cavarretta – Associate Professor at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, specializing in basic and clinical cardiovascular research
- Cristiana Girelli – Italian professional soccer player for Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), on loan from Juventus, and captain of the Italian national team
- Alessandro Urlando – Managing Director, COSMED USA, Inc.
- Andrea Vitali – Sensor Ecosystem Manager for the Americas at STMicroelectronics, specializing in algorithms, digital signal processing, data fusion, and machine learning applied to sensors technologies
The event will offer an opportunity to explore the connections between scientific research, sports medicine, advanced technologies, and athletic performance, while fostering the exchange of knowledge and collaboration between Italy and the United States. It also marks the official opening of the exhibition “ITALIAN SPORT SHOES DESIGN”, an immersive journey through the innovation, creativity, and craftsmanship that have made Italy a global leader in sports footwear design.
